In addition, the full dance floor will be open and there will be 1/2 price bottles of wine!

We will play from 7:30 - 9:30 PM and the format will be something like this:
7:30 Daryl & Band open the show followed by a set featuring Liz on vocals followed by a short break....then REPEAT!
I would love to see you there - in order to keep this special series of Monday concerts going, the venue needs wonderful live music enthusiasts like YOU to attend. They have also made it a bit easier for you - the cover charge is normally $5, but if you go to the box office (adjacent to the front door), and say the promo code BBJDD,it won't cost you a dime - not a penny.  You can get as many free tickets as you need for you and your whole posse.
You can also go on line and enter the promo code, but there is a $2 online processing fee if you do.  There is no fee when you show up in person with the code....so let's do this!
Here is the address for the club:

And in case you aren't already familiar with Daryl, here is his bio:

"Chicago native Daryl Davis graduated from Howard University with a degree in Jazz. Additionally, he was mentored by legendary pianists Pinetop Perkins and Johnnie Johnson who both claimed him as their godson and praised his ability to master a piano style that was popular long before he was born. In addition to being a pianist and vocalist, Daryl is an actor, author and lecturer, now residing in Maryland.  Apart from The Daryl Davis Band, he has worked with Elvis Presley's Jordanaires, Chuck Berry, The Legendary Blues Band, Percy Sledge, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Coasters, The Patters, The Drifters, and many others. Daryl's CDs 'American Roots' and 'Alternate Routes' received rave reviews from leading blues magazines, winning several WAMA (Washington Area Music Association) Awards for Best Artist in the Roots and Blues categories."

Thanks for your support - it means the world to me! XO

The Music Cafe's mission is to provide first-class, live entertainment served up with delicious menu offerings including gourmet sandwiches, deserts, coffee & espresso - and they do just that. It offers a warm "coffee shop" environment, only now they also serve beer and wine. It has become one of the best places to hear live music in Montgomery County.

Trust me when I tell you to save room for dinner and eat at The Music Cafe when you join us.  Yielding ties with music gave their famous sandwiches popular names such as: "Stairway to Freebird," "The Sinatra," "Ina Gadda Da Veggie" and "Another One Bites the Club."

The room also offers great acoustics, which makes it an especially enjoyable room to hear live music in.

In addition, this is the weekend of "Celebrate Damascus Days" in Damascus, so check out the weekend's activities (see pic below) and then wrap it up with us at The Music Cafe.

March 6, 2014

Hi everyone - thanks so much for your support at The Golden Bull.  If you were there, you know we had an amazing night. I love seeing a room full of friends and local musicians hanging out, having good food, seeing the waitstaff hustle to get the orders out, and dancers dancing.  We appreciate your support - without you, we couldn't make that happen. THANK YOU!!

February 12, 2014

I am excited to report that we have had more gig opportunities come our way: our debut at The Golden Bull in Gaithersburg (scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28), and our participation in the "Bethesda Summer Concert Series" (scheduled for June 19).  If you have a venue in mind for us - please get in touch with me - I'd love to hear your suggestions.

The New Deal Cafe
Roosevelt Center

Greenbelt, MD 20770

This place is a hidden gem!  The New Deal Cafe, a non-stock, cooperative membership corporation, is nestled in historic Roosevelt Center in the heart of Old Greenbelt.  We especially like their efforts to support the local arts - they offer live music six  nights a week - as well as a venue for local artists to display and sell their work.

In addition to being a great community gathering place, The New Deal Cafe offers a gourmet wine selection (sample their interational wine slection featuring Tomaiolo Pinot Grigio from Italy, Louis Latour Chardonnay from France and El Toqui Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile just to name a few) as well as lucious Lebanse food in an intimate community atmosphere.

FYI: The bands at this venue are paid via the tip containers on each table, so please feel free to show your support that way - we appreciate your generosity and support of the local music scene.

Wednesday, June 19

We’ve had a couple great gigs since I wrote last – a packed house at Branded 72 in Rockville on 6/8 (we would have played past 12 AM, but the staff wanted to go home), and a GREAT set at Derwoodstock at The Outta the Way Café on 6/15 (what a fabulous crowd they had this year, and we enjoyed hearing a bunch of great musicians we had not heard before!).

Next up is Hershey’s on Friday, June 28. We will play in the main dining room from 9:30 PM – 12:30 AM. We’d love to see you and if you haven’t seen them yet, this would be a great opportunity for you to see Hershey's recent renovations. We have been working on some new material – we hope to debut at least a couple of the new songs there. We hope to see you!

Thursday, June 6

Well I had a complete blast performing with Bad Influence on May 18 at the Chesapeake Bay Blues Fest.  Here's a pic!

Thursday, May 16

We had fun at Blue Sky & Crusaders this month and the May musical merriment continues!! This weekend:

I have been so fortunate to have been asked to sing with The Bad Influence Band at The Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival this weekend. This is a huge event every Spring and one of this year's headliners (Sunday) is none other than the incomparable BONNIE RAITT!

This is Bad Influence's first time at The CBBF - they go on at 11 AM on Saturday, and I will some songs with them during their set. This is a wonderful event, and if you have never been, I strongly encourage you to go when you can. Also, know that this event isn't just a good time, but it does good things - it supports charities with all of its net proceeds.

Chesapeake Bay Events (CBE) held its first festival in 1998. It has quickly gained national notoriety as one of the premier Blues Festivals in the world. Outside of providing top caliber entertainment, the festival also gives ALL net proceeds to charity. To date the CBE has raised $1,000,000.00 for charities.

The recipient charities for 2012 were : John Hopkins Cleft and Cranial Facial Children’s CAMP FACE, We Care and Friends, which is an organization providing a wide variety of services to the needy of Annapolis, Camp Fantastic, a camp for children with cancer which is operated by Special Love, Inc. and End Hunger Calvert, an organization whose mission is to feed the hungry as well as providing a path toward self sufficiency.

Find out more about this wonderful event at: www.bayblues.org

We had a great night at Hard Times thanks to your support.  Many of us were thinking of Jamie Lee Bortz-Day who had recently passed. Carl sang a lovely rendition of "Little Wing" in her memory, and I sang "Angel From Montgomery" for her.  She was a great supporter of live music in the area, and she will be missed. Here is a pic of her with one of her dearest friends, Marty Kahl.  Thank you for being with us on Saturday Marty:

Come on out and join us for some high-energy Blues / R&B / Classic Rock. We usually have a couple of pool tables going with some 8-ball games and beginners are very welcome. Come on out and party with us - we'd love to see you!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Built 4 Comfort's new drummer, Bill Ryan.

An accomplished percussionist with 30 + years experience, Bill has toured the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean and is well versed in all styles of music. He's been a resident of Frederick, MD since 1995 and currently plays throughout the Maryland/D.C. areas.

We are very blessed to have him join Built 4 Comfort!

We think you will enjoy the tradition they carry on. So grab a cold beer, enjoy the music and dig into some true Southern 'cue!
